Google’s decision to select four Indian startups — Terrastack, Varaha Climate, Farmers for Forests and Climitra Carbon — for its inaugural Google DeepMind Accelerator: AI for the Planet (APAC) offers a glimpse into that shift. That combination creates an unusual innovation environment: large, difficult problems paired with increasingly powerful technological tools. Google’s broader climate initiatives in India reinforce this direction. The company is scaling its AI-powered Solar API across 300 million rooftops to automate solar surveys and layouts, while it has also entered a four-year agreement with climate-tech startup Mitti Labs for one million carbon credits through 2030.

For businesses watching this space, the lesson is not to chase every new AI model. It is to identify where intelligence can make an existing sustainability process faster, more accurate, more transparent, or more scalable.

The Brands That Win May Measure What Others Merely Promise
